Eugen Polanski is about to be promoted to head coach at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 39-year-old gathered further arguments for continued employment with the 3-1 home win in the Rhenish derby against 1. FC Köln. The “Picture“ writes that it’s just a matter of details and that a contract until 2028 “with established scenarios in the event of success and failure” is in the works. The new sports director Rouven Schröder commented on Polanski’s future in the Sport1 “one-two” on Sunday – albeit a little more cautiously.
“Now we have a little time to talk. We were convinced from the start. I also said ‘convinced’ a little more often in my inaugural speech, because I am too and Eugen certainly does. In the end, it’s about Borussia Mönchengladbach. We also discussed things in a differentiated way when things looked completely different three weeks ago. It’s football, it’s changing. But what you can say is that Eugen is very, very concentrated, very, very focused with the team works,” explained the 50-year-old (according to “GladbachLIVE”), without issuing Polanski a guarantee.
When asked, Schröder said: “There is no time window and yet of course now after three wins it’s like that, during the international break, you sit down together and think about things. We actually don’t have a contract in the drawer. We definitely just let it work for us for the time being. With three wins under our belt, we’re on the right track. But we don’t have to get ahead of ourselves, you’ve already read that everything would be perfect, so that’s definitely not.”

According to “Bild”, the Bundesliga club wants to learn from the past and not offer a coach a three-year contract again in order to avoid a high severance payment in the event of an early separation. “I talk to Rouven almost every day and come to work here every day with a smile on my face,” Polanski said. “You don’t have to give me a new contract because we won the derby. It’s important to me that people at the club are convinced of my work. I get that feedback. And I’m already employed at Borussia and don’t work for nuts.”
