Pokémon delves into the world of Van Gogh, still a lot of mystery

The Pokémon Company announced on Tuesday that it will collaborate with the Van Gogh Museum. Something will be unveiled in the museum in Amsterdam on September 28, but what exactly is still unclear. However, it seems that figures from the Nintendo video game Pokémon will be walking around in works of art by the Brabant painter.

The short video that the company behind the cheerful gaming figures published gives a good impression of what is possible with a collaboration between Van Gogh and Pokémon.

The figures Pikachu and Eevee run through a field full of sunflowers with a beautiful hilly landscape and windmills in the background. The animation then changes into a painting that looks a lot like Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. As Eevee and Pikachu look at the Van Gogh blue sky, the sunflowers have turned into Pokémon.

The well-known video game that is especially popular on the Nintendo game console contains the Pokémon figure Sunflora, which is actually a sunflower. There is already plenty of speculation online about which Pokémon could fit into Van Gogh’s various masterpieces.
