Pohang Steeler win cup final in South Korea – Jeonbuk threatens a titleless season

Former Wolfsburg player Hong scores

The Pohang Steelers are South Korean cup winners. In the final against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, Pohang won 4:2 (1:1) and celebrated winning the title again after ten years in the 50th anniversary season. Jeonbuk was temporarily leading 2-1 after goals from Min-kyu Song (16th) and Gustavo (50th), but Zeca (74th), Jong-woo Kim (77th) and a dream goal from former Wolfsburg player Yun-sang Hong ( 90.+1) turned the game around.

Pohang is currently riding the wave of success. In addition to winning the cup, they also achieved second place in K League 1 and a confident Champions League group stage with three wins from three games. Jeonbuk, on the other hand, is in danger of having a season to forget: for the first time since 2013, the record champions could remain without a title.
