podcast | ‘Group of people in their mid-twenties at the Orange must take the wheel in the near future’ | Sports podcasts

The hierarchy at Orange needs to be overhauled. Do Peter Bosz and PSV fit together when it comes to the game concept? Frank de Boer’s new club, Alex Pastoor on his way to the premier league and the incredible story of Quincy Promes from the court. Etienne Verhoeff discusses these topics with Maarten Wijffels.

The Dutch national team is back together. In the coming weeks, the internationals will prepare for the semi-finals of the Nations League in their own country. Wijffels: ,,If something has become clear in Koeman’s first week in March, it is that he cannot fall back on his first period with the Orange in 2018 and 2019. He then built on Memphis Depay in the striker and Georginio Wijnaldum behind him. You can’t build on both players now. With Matthijs de Ligt, Nathan Aké, Frenkie de Jong and Cody Gakpo, the Orange has a group of people in their mid-twenties. Those players have to take the wheel in the near future.”

Frenkie de Jong cannot do that this week with the Orange. ,,Ronald Koeman actually wanted to release Frenkie de Jong for a week after the competition. That is not possible, because after the competition on Sunday he immediately flew to Japan with Barcelona for an exhibition game. 30 hours of flying for a practice game. That’s madness.”
