She gets buckets of water over her and her braids are cut off. 89 women, including Annie, sign a list in which they declare their solidarity with Non. Commander Grünewald of camp Vught wants to suppress what he considers a mutiny and personally helps to squeeze the women into the cell.

There are so many women in jail that women who pass out even stand up straight. There is a lack of oxygen. Later, the women say that they screamed, prayed and cried all night. They have also tried to take off their clothes to feel some fresh air pass their bodies. Some women have gone mad during this night. Ten women die.
