‘Plee figure’ comparison was a ludicrous end to the hate campaign against Fortuyn | Columns

On May 6, 2002, Pim Fortuyn was executed. In the morning of May 10, 2002, a few hours before his funeral in the cathedral of Rotterdam was to start, I finished my essay on Fortuyn, ‘The brave son of the Netherlands’. The Netherlands was in turmoil. The assassination attempt was un-Dutch and caused an emotional and political earthquake.
