Android users may be at risk of losing their bank account balance if an application that spreads Trojan malware is found on their phone. A computer virus is called a Trojan, which sneaks onto the device disguised as an innocent application.
A Trojan named Fleckpe has been detected in a total of eleven different applications. Applications can register their users to subscribe to an expensive service, which causes the account to dwindle without the user noticing.
– The users have not noticed the activation of the order or how these have happened in the first place, an expert from the cyber security company Kaspersky Dimitry Kalinin tells on the company’s blog.
The following applications should be removed as soon as possible:
- Beauty Camera Plus
- Beauty Photo Camera
- Beauty Slimming Photo Editor
- Fingertip Graffiti
- GIF Camera Editor
- HD 4K Wallpaper
- Impressionism Pro Camera
- Microclip Video Editor
- Night Mode Camera Pro
- Photo Camera Editor
- Photo Effect Editor
Google had managed to remove these from the app store even before Kaspersky had announced that they were dangerous. However, apps are still available from unofficial sources.
There may also be other applications on the go
Applications have been downloaded an estimated 620 thousand times, but the actual figure may be higher. Kaspersky advises that you should be careful when downloading applications, even if they are downloaded from official sources.
– Cybercriminals have been able to publish other applications whose dangerousness has not yet been noticed, says Kalinin.
Deletion is possible by long-clicking on the application, after which you can delete the application from the menu that appears on the screen.
