Hot and erotic films: fifteen titles to watch on Netflix

Playersthe plot of the movie

Mackenzie Cannon (Rodriguez), 33, is a sports journalist from New York. Her career could be going swimmingly, if only she wasn’t terribly insecure about standing out with her boss.

On the other hand, in the approach She’s quite easy with men. Thanks to the complicity with his best friend Adam (Damon Wayans Jr.), Little (Joel Courtney) and Brannagan (Augustus Drew). For years they have developed a series of effective conquering techniques. At the basis of everything is the idea that a serious and stable relationship cannot originate from a casual encounter.

So Mack isn’t looking for true love, or maybe he is, but he doesn’t question himself much on this point. And while he waits he enjoys one-night stands and even less. The story gets interesting when it arrives in the editorial office Nick Russell (Tom Ellis), war correspondent, Pulitzer Prize finalist and Manhattan bachelor list: the prototype of the good party. And in fact Mack is anything but indifferent to him.

Are Mack and Nick right for each other?

When the two meet in a pub, love at first sight strikes Mack. Infatuation then confirmed with a night spent together. At this point he asks for the intervention of his friends, Adam first and foremost. They have to help her win it.

Everyone observes him together, studying his movements bordering on stalking, what he loves, what he hates. The goal is to make Mack one ideal preyto ensure that there is a second meeting, a third and so on.

The scheme works. Nick becomes more and more interested, and when he lets go the relationship with Mack becomes serious. They are close-knit, involved, but at the basis of their relationship there is always a small crack that every now and then seems to make the balance creak.

Nick is a self-centered adult. Instead Mack, despite still being a little girl, is attentive to her partner’s needs. Maybe a little too much. And having to quickly understand how to approach a mature relationship, she does everything to please her boyfriend, even pretending to love fish and to be interested in Byzantine art. In essence, she puts aside the theories developed over the years with Adam and pretends to be someone she isn’t so as not to lose the man she loves.

Is it really the right technique? he asks her Adam warning her. He explains to her that love also means accepting the other in his or her totality, but Mack is too focused on chasing the ideal. When she asks Nick for his opinion on a career-changing article, she has to figure out what she really wants and where to go.

The review of Players

Directed by Trish Sie (Step up all in, Pitch perfect 3), Players is a classic romantic comedy perfect for Valentine’s Day. Nothing new that hasn’t already been told by American filmography and beyond. The topics addressed – the loss of parents, the support of friends and in particular of the best friend, eternal adolescence, friction with the boss – they are the same ones told since the dawn of time.

The difference lies in the way they are developed. Although it starts with good expectations, the ending and even a good part of the film are quite predictable. Gina Rodriguez (the protagonist Jane Villanueva in Jane the Virgin) he is believable as Mack, just as the rest of the cast proves to be up to the role.

Unfortunately the surprise effect disappears, we reach the key moment with little pathos and everything seems already written. Despite everything, Players However, it remains a film without great expectations, useful for spending two hours lightly.
