Players Championship Finals: Martin Schindler eliminated in the round of 16

The German darts professional Martin Schindler was eliminated in the round of 16 of the Players Championship Finals in Minehead, England.

At the dress rehearsal for the World Championships in London (December 15 to January 3), the number 30 in the world lost 6:10 to former world champion Rob Cross on Saturday evening.

Despite the defeat, the 26-year-old was in good form just a few weeks before the most important tournament of the year.

Ricardo Pietreczko had previously missed the leap into the round of 16. The 28-year-old was eliminated in the second round by a 3:6 against Callan Rydz.

Pietreczko could not qualify for the World Championships, but the 28-year-old caused a big surprise in the opening round at his tournament premiere on Friday. He beat top seed Damon Heta from Australia 6:5 and his tournament participation put him in the top 100 in the world rankings (94th place).

The German top player Gabriel Clemens had already failed at his opening hurdle.

The major tournament in Minehead with 64 players is considered the last yardstick for the World Cup. Scottish World Cup champion Peter Wright canceled his participation for personal reasons.
