Play-offs out of sight for VVV after defeat at Eindhoven | 1Limburg

VVV-Venlo suffered a hopeless 4-0 defeat on a visit to FC Eindhoven. The people of Venlo were 2-0 down before half-time and were unable to do anything about it in the future. On the contrary.

The defeat means that VVV starts the fourth and final period with a loss. More annoying is that the play-offs are getting further out of sight. After 29 games, NAC has eight points more and a better goal difference than the Venlo club. That is a serious setback with nine games left to play.

End of series
FC Eindhoven rumbles on and can take the period title at home against ADO Den Haag on Monday evening. The decent series of VVV, five games in a row without a loss, was not continued.

Eindhoven
Sven Braken returned to the forefront against FC Eindhoven, Stan van Dijck started in midfield. The start was for the team of trainer Jos Luhukay, who mainly went to the half of FC Eindhoven in the first fifteen minutes. Still, the home team took the lead. The detached Charles-Andreas Brym opened the score in the 20th minute with a header towards the inside of the post.
VVV had not yet recovered from this when the ball was already behind goalkeeper Delano van Crooij. Jasper Dahlhaus shot a free kick straight into the goal in the 23rd minute: 2-0.

No danger
VVV-Venlo had difficulty overcoming that downer. Eindhoven had the initiative from the lead and remained the better team. Jort van der Sande was close to the 3-0. The striker headed a free kick from Joey Sleegers just wide. VVV did not offer anything offensively in return and did not create any danger.

Continuation
VVV started the 2nd half unchanged. Things then got worse for Venlo when Dahlhaus made it 3-0 in the 57th minute.

First Venless danger
Just before the hour, a long shot by Joeri Schroijen resulted in the first danger for VVV. Goalkeeper Nigel Bertrams took the shot. A double substitution at VVV-Venlo, where Sven Braken and Joeri Schroijen were replaced by Yahcuroo Roemer and Mitchell van Rooijen, should provide more threat. That did not work, VVV did not get further than the penalty area.
FC Eindhoven poked another one through Jort van der Sande two minutes before the end.

A play-off spot for VVV-Venlo seems far(more) away.
