HERE IS THE EXPLANATION MADE FROM TFF:
In its meeting, the Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation decided to change the Play-Off System in Spor Toto 1st League starting from the 2022-2023 season.
At the end of the season, the teams that finished the league in the top two places will be promoted directly to the Spor Toto Super League, and the Play-Off System will be implemented as follows:
– Teams finishing the league in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places qualify for the Play-Offs.
– The team that finishes the league in 3rd place is promoted directly to the Play-Off Final.
– The team that finished the league in the 4th place and the team that finished in the 7th place, and the team that finished in the 5th place match with the team that finished in the 6th place. The matches are played on the field of the 4th and 5th teams according to the single-elimination method.
– The teams that win these competitions will meet according to the double-elimination method, with the first match on the field of the team that finished the league in the lower rank, and as a result of these competitions, the winning team will advance to the Play-Off Final as the second finalist.
– Play-Off Final is played on neutral ground according to the single-match elimination method. The winning team will be the 3rd team to be promoted to the Spor Toto Super League.
