Plants have been stolen from planters on the Herengracht for weeks. Residents are now done with it. “She really takes everything.”
CCTV footage from last night shows the thief unceremoniously taking the plants out of the container and putting them in her bag. At eight o’clock in the evening she came back and picked up another plant.
Residents say they have been suffering from the plant thief for weeks. One of the residents therefore decided to install a camera, the images of which he then sent to AT5.
“She takes everything: ducks, absolutely anything that comes out,” says the resident as he stands next to an emptied planter. If she wants a plant, she can have one from me. But don’t steal from other people, I think that’s going too far.
The man is not the only one affected by the theft. A woman who works further down the Herengracht also regularly sees plants disappear. The reason? “That’s the big question,” she said. “It could also be that someone gets a kick out of this.”
