That will be in September or October, says the project developer. There is space for more than twenty homes on the site. It will take a few years before anything is finalized, because the zoning plan procedure will certainly take another one to one and a half years.
“We now live in 1st Exloërmond and have a large garden,” says a couple. “We want to live a little smaller in the long term, so we are now looking at our options. But we also look further around us, you know. Just what will come our way.”
“I think these new plans are much better,” says a former resident of Exloo. “Hopefully it will be much more affordable, also for starters. I think that’s important. I myself moved to Emmen two years ago, but we do want to go back. So we’re waiting to see if this is something for us. I’m glad the old dairy factory is being demolished, because that dilapidated building is an eyesore.”
Whether the houses will become a lot more affordable now remains to be seen. “You can decide for yourself what is affordable,” says Dragtstra. He does not yet know the level of the prices. “The expectation is that construction prices will rise and contractors will become cheaper. But I have to see that first.”
