Now that the Flemish government has chosen to dig a new section of canal for the upgrade of the Bossuit-Kortrijk canal, residents are worried about their homes. Some, like Annick Rubrecht, even fear that their home will have to make way.
“We had just gone to the bank to borrow money to completely change our house: windows, doors, new kitchen. Hopefully things will change and we can continue living here. That is all I ask, because it hurts me very much,” says Annick.
