Plans for a new rail link between Brussels and Paris | To travel

The NMBS and the French railway company SNCF Voyageurs are planning to build a new rail link between Brussels and Paris.

There are plans to start this by the end of next year. Both operators have notified their intention to operate the new service to the railway regulators. A feasibility study is underway.

The intention is to travel back and forth between Brussels-South and Paris-North several times a day, with classic trains. So it is not a high-speed connection. That journey should take three hours, including a stopover in Bergen. It is not the intention to stop at the Brussels Airport station.

With the new regular train service, the NMBS wants to offer an addition to the existing high-speed trains, “at a competitive price”, according to a spokesperson. It is not yet known how much a ticket to Paris will cost.
