Plane wreckage found after 54 years on melting Aletsch glacier in Switzerland

Centuries-old glaciers in Switzerland are also revealing their secrets due to persistent record temperatures. In the first week of August a plane wreck appeared ‘out of nowhere’ in the Swiss mountain landscape. A mountain guide found a plane that crashed over the Aletsch Glacier in June 1968. There were three people on board at the time. Their bodies were quickly found, but the unit never. The wreckage has emerged from the melting of the glacier. It is suspected that much more of the aircraft is hidden under the ice mass.
