FC Volendam had plenty of opportunities, but again was left empty-handed. Precisely defender Bas Kuipers was the celebrated man at opponent Go Ahead Eagles with two goals: 2-3.
Xavier Mbuyamba, who was recruited on the last day of the transfer market, started in the starting lineup. Brian Plat moved to right back position, Achraf Douiri was sacrificed. That also applied to Henk Veerman, Gaetano Oristanio played in his place. The Italian also created the first danger with a header. Goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange was able to turn the ball. In the opening phase, Robert Mühren also had a great chance at a pass from Derry John Murkin. The striker shot high.
Oliver Edvardsen had a chance in the counterpunch, but this time Filip Stankovic was the spoilsport. The ensuing corner was cleared and ended up with Bobby Adekanye. He didn’t think twice and hit hard, against the ratio: 0-1. The scoreless Go Ahead could not enjoy the lead for long. Carel Eiting hit hard and scored Volendam’s thousandth goal in the Eredivisie: 1-1. After this, the new orange kept looking for goals, but without success.

Twice Kuipers
In the second half, Volendam shot out of the starting blocks. Mühren played the ball hard, but saw his effort turned by De Lange. The striker went to the ground a few minutes later on a cross. The referee Richard Martens did not think it was a penalty. The Volendam team got away well after Eiting almost scored an own goal.
Henk Veerman entered the field as a battering ram in the final phase. It was to no avail, as Kowet again took the lead fifteen minutes before the end. Bas Kuipers gave the last push from close by: 1-2. The evening eventually became even more annoying for Volendam, after Kuipers made his second: 1-3. Mühren made 2-3 in the final phase, but it did not yield any points.
