‘Place Angela de Jong with Marcel & Gijs!’

Youp van ‘t Hek would find it very entertaining to see Angela de Jong join in the last broadcast week of Marcel & Gijs. “The ultimate talk show moment!”

They still have one full week of broadcasting to go: Marcel van Roosmalen and Gijs Groenteman. After that, their daily talk show on SBS 6 is over. They had their ex-enemy Jan Slagter in the very first episode, but there is another media figure with whom they are involved in a kind of cold war: Angela de Jong.

Talk show stunt

Marcel has made it a kind of hobby to insult Angela. She does not really respond to that, although she has written an ugly column about the talk show Marcel & Gijs.

That woman should really be at the table there, thinks comedian Youp van ‘t Hek. He writes in the VARA guide: “The ultimate talk show moment yet to come? Angela at Gijs & Marcel. That is perhaps even a bigger stunt than Jan who was with those boys. It will be a wonderful summer.”

Vinexopinia

Youp is a fan of Angela’s talk show appearances. “I love Angela’s relentless vinexopina. Those wonderful fourteen in a dozen observations.”

Actually, according to him, Koffietijd should also return, with Marc-Marie Huijbregts as presenter. “And that every other day Angela comes to tell us why she had written an ugly piece about Marcel & Gijs.”

Angela doesn’t want to

Angela has already let us know that she is a bit off the boat when it comes to Marcel & Gijs. “I said what I also said to VI: ‘I’ll look at how you develop and what the intention is and what the format is and whether I’m in the right place there at all.’”

Colleague Marcus den Blanken advises her not to go: “May I give some advice? Angela did make a joke on Even Tot Hier once, but I think that’s a different level than a talk show that 400,000 people watch and where they don’t even have a clue what they’re doing.”

“Don’t sit there!”

Angela really has nothing to gain from such a performance, Marcus concludes. “Apparently it is not really taken very seriously, that talk show. I wouldn’t sit there. But she has to know for herself.”

The last broadcast week of Marcel & Gijs starts tomorrow at 9.30 pm on SBS 6. The following week, Hélène Hendriks will start with her program De Oranjezomer.
