The answer for Finnish viewers will be provided by Köpi Kallio, who is traveling in Italy.
Does pineapple belong on pizza or not? Today, Juuso “Köpi” Kallio is looking for an answer to the question of eternity.
Köpi and his friend Ville “Viki” Eerikkilä are heading Tourism program of Vik and Köp –in their series to Naples, Italy. The city is known, among other things, for its pizzas, to which entire restaurants are dedicated even in Finland. Internationally, Neapolitan pizza-making skills have been recognized by adding it to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
When making local pizza, there are exact rules about, for example, what kind of base is good. It must not be crunchy.
Over
Of the traveling duo, only Köpi knows how to bake – and taste – pizza. He wants to be an apprentice with food wages and has managed to agree on a deal Francesco’s with to a restaurant called Soldino. However, the man is not seen in the episode. He is not met backstage in Köpikä, because in the end only guesses are presented about Francesco’s whereabouts.
Over
In any case, despite the language barrier and the long waiting time, Köpi gets to the side of the kitchen. There, the professional has to spread the tomato sauce over the base, because he thinks Köpi doesn’t know how to do it. There is also cheese and olive oil on top.
Nothing yellow is visible as a filling. When the finished flatty arrives in front of Köpi after two minutes of baking, he asks his hosts what they think of the fruit in the pizza.
– Do you know the pineapple fruit? Do you ever put it on pizza? Köpi asks and quickly gets an unequivocal answer.
– Not here in Italy!
Over
This is exactly what Köpi wanted to hear. He doesn’t think pineapple belongs on pizza either.
– That’s it. Damn, please! Köpi says to the camera.
– You’re welcome! he still gestures to the audience to indicate that the pineapple dispute is now settled once and for all.
