Piritta Hagman is annoyed by how women’s reluctance is treated – Download her direct words now

Piritta Hagman is amused to find herself in the sports audience again and is frustrated by the way women’s health problems are treated.

– I thought while sitting in the basketball booth that this is the irony of life – that here I am sitting again. I see the humor in the fact that this is how life is carried on, even if no more is planned for it, says Piritta Hagman.

The work of Piritta’s partner, basketball coach Lassi Tuovi, has taken Piritta to the world and to the sidelines of sports fields. In autumn, Lassi moved to Italy for work.

– Even though I’ve lived my whole adult life where someone can leave for a new city at any time, it still always surprises me, Piritta says and refers to her ex-partner, ice hockey player Niklas Hagman.

Permission to enjoy

In Italy, Piritta has done her work, enjoyed herself and had a conversation with herself.

– I have tried to tell myself that “try and dare to enjoy what you get”. Sometimes when I was younger I even wondered if I was getting too much. I didn’t dare to enjoy myself, but I felt guilty for being given such wonderful things, Piritta says.

Piritta thinks that the thought pattern is probably a family legacy.

– But I can look at that Italian street scene, write lectures over a cappuccino and a croissant and feel that I get to experience something like this. I could never have dreamed of it, but I’m worth it and it doesn’t have to be earned. It has been a really difficult thought for me, Piritta says.

Piritta doesn’t yet know how much time she will spend in boot country. The situation is new, and Piritta’s customer calendar is always open two months ahead. Time will tell.

According to her words, Piritta is living a serene phase of life. Piritta describes herself as a house mouse who enjoys playing around in pajamas and woolen socks. He devours so much professional material even at home that he sometimes falls asleep with the lecture in his ears. Client work is rolling and 11-, 14- and 16-year-old children are waiting at home.

– They are three crazy people who have followed their own paths, Piritta is happy.

Grievances

Even an outsider would dare to judge that Piritta, who works as a maternity and pelvic floor physiotherapist, is passionate about her field. Piritta could talk endlessly about the troubles of pregnancy, premenopause and many aspects of womanhood – and a little more.

Piritta regularly encounters problems in her work. They could also be summed up in one sentence: women’s problems are belittled.

– It includes the shocking biblical idea that women should suffer from menstruation and childbirth because we have committed original sin.

There is a gap between the sexes, also when it comes to sexual health.

– If a man says that his libido has decreased or that he cannot get an erection or is unable to ejaculate, by God, a medicine is sought for it. You get an erection medicine at the same time and we think that there is a health problem here, Piritta says.

– When a woman’s libido decreases, it is considered normal. If you can’t have an orgasm: “Ah, you’re just one of those women who can’t”. The matter is not even investigated, Piritta sighs.

Piritta would also like to reform the counseling system.

– Not because it’s bad. The problem is that the counseling system was developed a hundred years ago, and its goals then were completely different from what is needed today, Piritta says.

Policy

And has Piritta considered going into politics?

– I had a goal to be a candidate in the previous municipal elections, but after the divorce, my children needed me more, so I left that dream to wait for the right moment. I am aware that we are living in really challenging and contradictory times, when the voices of families with children and women are increasingly needed to be heard. Social and health policy is especially close to my heart and now in the middle of the social security reform, the need to understand it is great, so I would think that I would have a lot to contribute when making reforms, Piritta answers.

He reflects that political influence and politics are, however, a world whose realities can hardly be understood until one is concretely involved in it.

– So there is still a long way to go. I am completely realistic that it is not an easy or quickly rewarding job. Especially when, at the moment, I get to do work, the benefits of which I see every day and which brings me enormous joy of success, Piritta says.
