PINK rock summer fairy tale in the Olympic Stadium

By Johannes Malinowski

The next open-air highlight of the year: on Wednesday evening, the Olympic Stadium lit up PINK!

It is the twelfth of 61 shows on their current Summer Carnival Tour – and the first concert in Germany this summer. More than 60,000 fans in the Olympic Stadium. A rock summer fairy tale in Westend.

The sun goes down behind the marathon gate and at 8:26 p.m. US rock star Pink (43, real name Alecia Beth Moore) falls onto the stage from a huge kissing mouth in a glitter fumble. It pops, shines, glitters. First song – sure – “Get the Party started” (Eng. Let the party begin)!

In between, nice announcements to the audience, Pink even fulfills autograph requests from the bean. “Berlin is one of my favorite places in the world,” she says.

The stage: A carnival dream. Silver palm trees, glowing flamingos and a giant ice cream cone. Artists on stage, an extremely fit 1.63 meter artist.

The Berlin audience is enthusiastic and has a firm grasp of the lyrics. Pink can be scuffed (“Just like a Pill”) as well as ballad (“Just give me a reason”). It got emotional with the Bob Dylan song “Make you feel my love”, which Pink accompanied on the piano.

Daughter Willow Sage Hart (12) came to Cover me in Sunshine on stage. At the end of the show, she flies over the audience, strapped into a harness like a rock star, and doing somersaults.

Since the mid-1990s, Pink has been one of the most commercially successful artists and is probably the most successful female rock star in the world. It feels like she’s always been there. A large part of the Berlin audience probably grew up with their music.

Pink songs are all over the radio. Consequence: Even non-fans are fixed on the text. Episode of the episode: The singing of the fans makes up for the well-known modest sound in the Olympic Stadium.
