Barbie lovers had been eagerly awaiting it for ages and on Tuesday it finally happened: the premiere of the film about their favorite doll that first saw the light in 1959.
Many moviegoers dressed up completely for the occasion and so the Gedempte Zuiderdiep in Groningen turned completely pink at times, supplemented with glitter, heels and lavish make-up. That will be Barbiecore called: Barbie and pink as (fashion) inspiration.
Noa from Westerbroek and Mick from Groningen, Amber and Jeanine from Groningen and mother Margreta and daughter Jolanda from Zwaagwesteinde also went for a suitable look. That the Barbie Night had the dress code ‘Touch of Pink’, they did not let themselves be told a second time.
Cinema chain Pathé previously reported that there was a rush for the 22,000 tickets in the Netherlands. Worldwide, a resurgence of the popularity of the doll and of the color pink is expected.
