Pink Floyd release reissue of their classic

On September 16, 2022, Pink Floyd will release the long-awaited reissue of their 1977 album Animals on LP, CD, Blu-ray and SACD in 5.1 surround sound. The deluxe version will be available from October 7th. The remix was already made in 2018, but is only appearing now because David Gilmour and ex-colleague Roger Waters are not green and like to argue about detailed questions.

scope of the new album

The deluxe version includes vinyl, CD, audio Blu-ray, audio DVD and a 32-page booklet. The audio Blu-ray and DVD feature the remix from 2018 in stereo, 5.1 surround and the original stereo mix from 1977. The 32-page book also shows photos from the album shoot and live images. Nothing is known about any bonus pieces.

new cover

“Because the original 1977 cover is such an iconic work of art, I had the chance to update it, which was quite a difficult task,” said Hipgnosis luminary Aubrey Powell, who redesigned the album cover.

“We took the opportunity to re-photograph the image to reflect a changing world, and through the use of modern digital coloring techniques, I related Pink Floyd’s rather somber message of moral decay to the Orwellian theme of animals.”
