Leaves Celta Vigo permanently
Greek doubles winners AEK Athens have made a new record transfer by signing Orbelín Pineda. The 27-year-old Mexican appeared on loan for the club last season and is now coming to the capital on a permanent basis from Celta Vigo. According to reports, a transfer fee of 6.5 million euros is due, which is by far Athens’ top value. Ex-Cologne Vasilios Tsiartas will be dethroned after 23 years.
Pineda, who has signed a contract until 2027, has made 42 appearances (10 goals/4 assists) for AEK. In the most recent market value update in Greece, the national player went from 4m to 5m euros, which is surpassed by five professionals in Super League 1.
