Pim van Drunen from Breda did not make it to the final of the opera talent show ARIA. In this eight-part series he competed against other opera singers to become the new opera star of the Netherlands. “What an unbelievably crazy adventure!”
Pim says via Instagram that he enjoyed his participation in the show. The jury had praise for the singer. She says she really enjoyed his performances. According to the jury, he excelled mainly because he experienced enormous growth during the program.
“You have managed to take the most steps within this competition. We’ve seen you get better week by week. You are an inspiration to a new generation of opera singers,” the jury wrote in the final report.
Pim also hopes to become the latter, he said before the final in an interview with Omroep Brabant. He hopes to make everyone enthusiastic about opera with his participation: “It is not stiff or boring at all, but rather bombastic and grand,” he said at the time.
In this second season, Sílvia Sequeira emerged as the winner. She can now kick-start her career with a course at the Opera Studio of the Dutch National Opera.
Pim congratulates the winner via Instagram and also compliments the ‘sublime’ Mira. He calls it an honor to have been in the final with them. He himself says that he will first enjoy the broadcast with his family and friends.
