Piet Hardeman campaigned for more nature and gentle recreation in the Westhoek all his life. Thanks to him you can enjoy 600 kilometers of GR hiking trails in West Flanders every day. He also designed the famous Tweebergen walking route and the Silent Path in Heuvelland. From now on you can also pause on ‘Piet’s bench’ during one of your walks!
A number of associations joined forces to design the memorial site: Great Route Paths West Flanders, Trage Wegen, Stichting/Foundation Marguerite Yourcenar, Musée Marguerite Yourcenar, Natuurpunt De Bron and Municipality of Heuvelland.
