‘Women of Algiers’ (Version ‘O’), also by Picasso, fetched 179.3 million dollars (167.3 million euros) at Christie’s in 2015.
‘Woman with Watch’ depicts one of Picasso’s muses, the French painter Marie-Thérèse Walter (1909-1977). Prior to the auction, the work was valued at 120 million dollars (112.1 million euros).
