With this, the artist wants to draw attention to skin cancer. More than 2,000 people die from the disease in Australia every year. The campaign coincides with the national week of action against skin cancer in the country. In a statement about the promotion, Tunick said it was “an honor to be part of a mission to encourage checking your skin.”

In 2010, 5,500 naked people also posed in Sydney, then in front of the iconic Opera House. “If the Sydney Opera House can get 5,500 on a cold March morning, we hope to reach our goal of 2,500 today,” one of the organizers of the action week told CNN. “Everyone is welcome to participate, we welcome all body types, genders and race.”

Tunick has taken about 100 large-scale nudes around the world in public places. In total, he managed to get 18,000 naked volunteers in front of his lens.
