Photographer Evgeny Feldman left Russia for fear of political persecution.
“I don’t really appreciate the prospect of returning right now. I think it’s easier to leave. I think that this is forever, and then act according to the situation, ”he told RBC.
Feldman told on Instagram that he decided to leave two months ago. According to him, the work of a documentary filmmaker in Russia is becoming impossible due to the fact that the country’s authorities are forcing everyone to “pretend that people, trends and facts that are unpleasant to them do not exist.” Feldman noted that the Center for Combating Extremism considers him an opposition activist because of his work as a photographer.
“So, someday the repressions against those who worked with Alexei Navalny will reach me,” he said. Feldman clarified on Twitter that he had moved to Riga.
