Utrecht photographer Angeliek de Jonge has won the Jos van Leeuwen Region Prize 2022. De Jonge photographs for AD Utrechts Nieuwsblad, among others.
The jury is full of praise for De Jonge’s work: “Angeliek de Jonge knows how to take beautiful photos of apparently simple subjects. Which shows once again that a good photographer does not need fancy events. In fact, Angeliek’s photos would eventually can say more about this time than so-called news moments.”
With her own series in the AD Utrechts Nieuwsblad, she proves once again that she has an eye for the in-depth, documentary side of the profession, the jury judges.
The Jos van Leeuwen Regional Prize 2022 will be awarded on June 2 by Jos van Leeuwen during an evening about regional photography in Museum Hilversum. From 3 June to 3 July there is an exhibition with work by De Jonge in the same museum.
