In 2021, Finns will buy more large household appliances, but less consumer electronics, than in the previous year, according to Gfk and the Electronics Wholesalers Association. report. For consumer electronics, sales declined by as much as 10.6 percent, while sales of large home appliances increased 3.3 percent.
According to the study, sales fell steadily in almost all consumer electronics product groups. According to statistics, however, Finns buy even larger televisions in their homes. Growth was seen in the largest televisions, 75-inch and larger.
Towards the end of the year, Finns went to small machine purchases. Hair care and haircut products in particular, as well as shavers, have been the last quarter’s sales. In the Christmas market, special kitchen products were also highlighted, of which the report highlights air fryers and espresso machines.
Sales of the camera side saw a slight increase of 1.4 percent. According to Gfk, almost all camera types lost popularity, but sales of SLR cameras increased slightly.
In terms of mobile phones, Finns bought phones that were more expensive on average. Although fewer handsets were sold, the more expensive price raised the value of the deal to 2020 levels. More and more people are buying a 5G phone, but also a smart watch, with sales focused on the rest of the year.
In the IT category, gaming and desktops boosted sales to a slight 0.4 percent annual growth. The declining trend in monitors and laptops continued, but the popularity of desktops continued to grow. Compared to the previous year, more gaming machines were purchased as both portable and desktop models. In addition, game screens traded well with an average price of around € 250.
