The run-up to Christmas was so rainy that the telephone at drinking water company WMD was ringing off the hook. The company says it receives many calls from customers who think the water pipe is broken.
That is usually not the case, says WMD. “It is so wet because of the rain that water seeps through walls into crawl spaces.” The water company recommends waiting until dry days arrive and then watching the crawl space dry out.
Although Christmas Day starts off dry, a lot of rain will fall again tonight and up to 10 millimeters could fall from the sky. Tomorrow the lake will clear up. “There will still be occasional showers, but we will certainly see the sun,” expects RTV-Drenthe weatherman Hans Nienhuis. “It will be around 9 to 10 degrees, with a weak to moderate southwest wind. It is mainly the afternoon that we have to cling to.”
