Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat one win away from Conference finals | Other sports

The Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns basketball players are one win away from the final of their division of the American professional league NBA. In the Eastern Conference, Miami beat Philadelphia 76ers 120-85.

On the west side, Phoenix Suns were too strong for Dallas Mavericks: 110-80. Both top teams lead their best-of-seven 3-2. The winners of the Conference Finals qualify for the final battle for the title in the NBA.

In the grand win of Miami, the best team in the eastern division in the regular season, Jimmy Butler (23 points) was the best player. Philadelphia saw star Joel Embiid, again with a face mask due to a broken eye socket, not reach his usual level. He was the team’s top scorer with 17 points.

Phoenix was helped in particular by Devin Booker (28 points) and Deandre Ayton, who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. The Suns only walked away from their opponent after the break, who led earlier in the game by 8 points. Luka Doncic was again important for the Mavericks with 28 points and 11 rebounds, but it was not enough.

End of season Morant?

The basketball players of Memphis Grizzlies are missing their star Ja Morant for the time being. The 22-year-old pointguard is struggling with a knee injury and may not play in the play-offs for the title in the American professional league NBA. Those could be over for Memphis soon, though. The team is 3-1 behind in the second round in a best-of-seven against the Golden State Warriors.

Morant suffered a bone bruise in his right knee in the third game against the Warriors. His team must avoid a premature elimination on Wednesday. In the only victory over the Warriors so far, Morant had been good for 47 points. Memphis also reports that it will no longer count on Morant in a possible sequel to the play-offs.
