Philippe Geubels is one of the brand new candidates for the twentieth season of ‘The smartest human being’, which starts on Monday 11 July on NPO2. He will compete against fashion designer Bas Kosters, Olympic speed skating champion Thomas Krol and political reporter Thomas van Groningen. In the Netherlands, the quiz is led in the right direction by Maarten van Rossem and Philip Freriks.

In 2008, Geubels took part in ‘The smartest person in the world’ for the first time, but unfortunately he was immediately played home by the duo Bart Cannaerts-Christophe Deborsu. In 2019 he made another attempt. Then he lasted five episodes, two of which were victories. With that, he ended up in the final weeks.

“I do know that every year there are candidates who go extremely far in their preparation. From Atoma notebooks to books with lists. Not for me,” Geubels told our newspaper in 2019. “You can block all you want, if you’re unlucky in the game, it’s over.”
