Phil Collins was born in London on January 30, 1951 – today he celebrates his 73rd birthday.
Phil Collins founded his first band while he was still at school, joined several groups in his younger years and became part of Genesis in 1970. Today – 54 years later – he has become an integral part of the world of musicians and is more than just one of many.
Both team players and individual fighters
Collins initially made a name for himself as a drummer in the progressive rock band, until his distinctive voice and powerful stage presence helped him take on the role of lead singer. But the all-rounder impresses even without a band. His solo career began in the 80s and further expanded his international success with chart hits such as “In the Air Tonight”, “Against All Odds” and “Another Day in Paradise”.
The exceptional artist has received numerous awards for his musical achievements – including Grammys, Academy Awards and a place in the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” with Genesis.

Collins also has a lot to offer outside of his purely musical realms – in his free time he has often supported charitable organizations such as UNICEF and the South African institution “The Topsy Foundation”to which he donated all income from royalties generated in Africa for seven years.
