Phil Bauhaus celebrates success in the traditional Tirreno-Adriatico race

Phil Bauhaus took the first German victory in a World Tour race in 2024. However, he was faced with some problems.

The German professional cyclist Phil Bauhaus won the third stage of the 59th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico long-distance race and took his first win of the season.

The 29-year-old sprinter narrowly prevailed on Wednesday on the 225-kilometer section in the middle of Italy in Gualdo Tadino ahead of the Italian Jonathan Milan and the Frenchman Kevin Vauquelin. It was the first win of the season this year for a German rider in a World Tour race.

Stage overshadowed by falls

Bauhaus had already won a stage of the long-distance journey in 2022. There were several falls in the final sprint. The Belgian Jasper Philipsen, who won the day on Tuesday, was also affected. Bauhaus’ teammate Nikias Arndt finished tenth after the hilly stage. The Spaniard Juan Ayuso remains the overall leader.

In the fourth stage on Thursday, the professional cyclists will have to climb the 207-kilometer-long stage after the start in Arrone to the grassy plateau Valico di Castelluccio at an altitude of 1,521 meters.
