Phenomenal performance of shot putter Jessica Schilder with bronze at the World Indoor Championships

With a distance of 19.48 meters Jessica Schilder took bronze at the World Indoor Championships tonight. The shot putter from Volendam came the furthest in her last attempt and thus set a new Dutch record. Until that moment she had 19.46 meters to her name.

Bronze was clearly the highest attainable for Schilder in Belgrade. Winner Auriol Dongmo put her bullet almost a meter further: 20.43. Number two Chase Ealey came to 20.21 meters.

For the North Holland girl, who will be celebrating her 23rd birthday tomorrow, it is her first medal at an international tournament. She showed her excellent form earlier this season with a new personal best from 19.72 meters.
