Phenomenal: Lieke Klaver again dives below the magical limit of 50 seconds

Lieke Klaver remained under 50 seconds in the 400 meters for the second time in a row on Friday evening. The athlete from Enkhuizen crossed the line at the Monaco Diamond League after 49.99. She came third and the victory went to the Polish Natalia Kazczmarek (49.63).

Klaver surpassed himself last Sunday in the 400 meters at a match in the Diamond League in Chorzow, Poland. The Enhuizen then ran for the first time under the magical limit of 50 seconds (49.81). After reigning European champion Femke Bol, she was the second Dutch woman to run the 400 meters in under 50 seconds. Bol holds the record (49.44).

In preparation for the World Cup next month in Budapest, Klaver will participate in the Dutch Athletics Championships this weekend (28 to 30 July). She has registered for the 100 meters and 100 meters hurdles. Remarkably enough, she does not participate in ‘her’ distance, the 400 meters. Klaver has been placed in Budapest for that, not for the 100 meters.
