PGA and European Tour agree on cooperation

The US PGA Tour and the European Tour will work more closely together in the future. As the two golf organizations announced on Tuesday, a joint venture planned for 13 years until 2035 has been concluded, which will bring some advantages for the players. In addition, the controversial Saudi Tour LIV series should be fought.

The new partnership, which follows a strategic alliance, aims to provide players with additional promotions and competition opportunities, as well as higher prize pools. The European Tour “will guarantee its members growth in annual prize money for the next five years, all above the record level of 2022,” according to a press release from the two tours.

Beginning in 2023, the top 10 players ranked at the end of the European Tour season will also receive a PGA Tour card for the following season. There will also be a defined path in the future if players want to switch from the European Tour to the PGA.

“We will continue to work together on a global schedule and on key commercial areas as we bring our organizations and memberships even closer together while innovating,” said Jay Monahan, commissioner of the PGA Tour.

In addition, the PGA will increase its existing stake in the European Tour Productions from 15 to 40 percent.
