The petting zoo in Uden was the target of a burglary twice this week. First a mountain of tools was stolen, now the office of the petting zoo on Artillerieweg has been robbed. The cash and keys are gone.
Chairman Peter van Orsouw feels defeated. “This is very intense,” he says. The accident happened on the night from Friday to Saturday. “They smashed the window, emptied the cash register and took all the keys. So we had to replace all the locks at breakneck speed.”

No alarm
The burglars knew well what they were doing. Surveillance camera images show two men. They ingeniously removed the lights from the alarm systems. “No alarm went off,” says the chairman.
The loot
During the first burglary this week, the toolbox was looted. “The circular saw was taken, the jigsaw and screw-drills,” he summarizes. “But we think the keys are the worst. Five cylinder locks had to be replaced, so you’re quickly talking about a thousand euros.”

Peter finds it extremely frustrating. “And that’s putting it mildly,” he says. “I am very angry. This is not fun. Look what you are doing to us, a volunteer organization. There is nothing to be gained here, you are causing us a lot of suffering,” the man speaks from his heart. Moreover, he emphasizes that you really don’t have to do it for the kinks. “It’s loose change, nothing ever stays here.”
