Petkovic on elbow injury: “The absolute horror”

Tennis player Andrea Petkovic has been struggling with an aggravated elbow injury since Wimbledon.

“It’s absolute horror. It’s completely gone in some cases, then a ball jumps wrong and the tendon is squeezed and I want to die,” reported the 34-year-old after her first-round victory against Tamara Korpatsch at the WTA tournament in Hamburg. “It’s a very unpleasant pain, but it doesn’t go away even with rest.”

The problems have existed for a long time, but have worsened significantly since the individual appearance at the classic lawn at the end of June, when she was eliminated in the first round. Petkovic reported that it was a so-called golfer’s elbow. The muscle attachments on the inside of the elbow are irritated. “But I play well, so it’s something I accept. At some point you have to take things like this with a sense of humor, what else can I do,” said Petkovic with a laugh. “If I turn pale or start crying, it’s probably because of that.”
