Petition against “Take A Chance” documentary

One is currently running on Change.org Petition to stop Amazon Primeto stream a documentary about ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog’s stalker. The film “Take A Chance” has been announced for May 19, 2023 on Prime Video. The petition wants to prevent this because a stalking victim “should not have to report on such a difficult and anxious time in his life”. It goes on to say in the comment columns of the signature page: “And why should this inhuman person [dem Stalker] give a platform and show what she did?”

Stalker film not shot with Agnetha Fältskog’s consent

The operators of the petition would like to stop the publication with the following text and a collection of signatures:

“Stop the release of the documentary ‘Take A Chance’! This documentary explores notorious stalker Gert Van Der Graaf and his obsession with ABBA’s Agnetha Fältskog. It was NOT filmed with the consent of Agnetha Faltskog. Many of her fans believe that this film will deeply hurt her and her family. The documentary also gives a voice to someone who has tormented, stalked and plagued her for years.

Such people should not be given a worldwide platform to discuss their inappropriate obsessions and behaviors. With that in mind, this petition aims to stop the release of this documentary. But even if that doesn’t work, we hope to at least send a message to the makers of the documentary. To Amazon Prime Video and Agnetha Fältskog herself: the fans are here and we are NOT supporting this film.”

Supporters of the campaign can leave their opinion in the comment column. One user wrote: “This person should not be held accountable for their shameful behavior, nor should they be allowed to benefit in any way from their past actions. Despicable behavior on the part of Amazon.”

More about Take A Chance

The Dutchman fell in love with Fältskog as a child, which quickly developed into an unhealthy obsession. Finally, van der Graaf started stalking the Swede in the 90s. In addition to experts, friends and psychologists, the stalker himself should appear in front of the camera to tell his version of the story.

Joel Karsberg of Surviving R. Kelly fame and John Mork served as executive producers, while Maria Thulin directed. Andreas Hjerto, Head of Content at Prime Video Nordics, said: “Through unprecedented access, the film offers new insights into an important and almost unbelievable story. We are impressed by the professionals in front of and behind the camera who did an unprecedented and comprehensive job to bring her to life.”
