Peter van der Vorst badly damaged from Matthijs riot: ‘Opportunist!’

Peter van der Vorst comes out of the Matthijs van Nieuwkerk riot battered. According to Angela de Jong, he is an opportunist and is only dropping him because of a sponsor who has dropped out.

After intense pressure from outside, Peter van der Vorst, the TV boss of RTL, chooses to give his money’s worth: he does not let Matthijs van Nieuwkerk start at his family channel RTL 4 after the new serious accusations against him. Angela de Jong, however wishful thinking that Peter has suddenly regained his moral compass.

Heroic or not?

According to Angela, there is something completely different underlying his decision to dump Matthijs. “The problem is that ‘coincidentally’ the sponsor of that Olympic talk show has also indicated that it does not want to continue with Matthijs. And that athletes have made it known that they do not want to join him,” she writes AD column.

So Peter has been reprimanded from outside, Angela emphasizes. “Well, then Peter van der Vorst’s decision suddenly sounds a lot less decisive and heroic, doesn’t it?”

Opportunism

Ultimately, Peter is yet another opportunist in the TV world, according to the AD opinion diva. “Peter was just far too premature and far too eager and now has to sit on his hands. His image as a righteous channel director who intervenes when scandalous things happen on his programs, such as with The Voice, is completely gone. Not a shred.”

She concludes: “I could say here that he is also a victim of Matthijs. But he is mainly the victim of his own panting and lack of decency to wait for the results of the Van Rijn investigation.”
