Peter Pannekoek made quite a few victims during his debut as presenter of the Televizier gala. The hardest joke of the evening was about the Römer media family.
The Golden Televizier-Ring Gala has suddenly become an entertaining program thanks to the new presenter Peter Pannekoek. He attacked quite a few celebrities and programs last night. “I see so many C-garments here, it looks like the VIP edition of De Alleskunner VIPS,” he said during the opening.
Spicy Römer joke
Peter joked about the TV flop Alles is Muziek, the journalistic quality of Op1, ‘the underbelly of Angela de Jong’ and the nervousness in the audience: “Some are nervous because they have a chance to win a prize and the rest of the audience is nervous because they think: when will there be an article in the Volkskrant about my inappropriate behavior?”
The hardest joke of the evening hit the Römer media family, namely when it was about the predictability of the former hit series Baantjer. Peter: “The same pattern every week, you couldn’t get away with that these days. Also because it now feels strange to have someone called De Cock played by a Römer.”
There is then a huge ‘oh’ in the room.
Victor Reinier screams
Peter’s joke is of course about the fact that the Römer family name has been contaminated by the dirty nephew Thijs Römer, who was convicted of online sexual offenses with three underage girls. The leading role in Baantjer, namely that of De Cock (the English word for pi*mel), was played by Thijs’ grandfather Piet Römer.
Victor Reinier, who played the other leading role in Baantjer, was in the audience at the Televizier gala yesterday and had to laugh heartily at Peter’s spicy joke.
Peter praised
Peter is highly praised for the presentation of the Televizier gala. Story boss Guido den Aantrekker in Shownieuws: “What a wonderful show. I’ve really been complaining about it a lot in recent years. I thought it was really Hollywood, but what an incredible dynamic there was in this show.”
Colleague Leontien van Moorsel: “I thought Peter Pannekoek did a really fantastic job. I thought it was innovative.”
And Anouk Smulders: “I really liked the pace of the show. I thought it was real again high level.”
‘Crazy about him’
Guido gives compliments to Peter. “Peter Pannekoek, I love him. Especially since Gordon’s The Roast, he has stolen my heart. He’s really tough. His jokes have a lot of impact.”
Presenter Manuel Venderbos: “In previous years, people were sometimes spotted bored and with chewing gum in their mouths in the audience (Erland Galjaard and Wendy van Dijk, ed.). How was the atmosphere tonight?”
Bart Ettekoven: “The atmosphere was, in a word, fantastic. We really saw a completely different show than in previous years, which was boring at times. Peter Pannekoek put the audience on edge from moment one. You really noticed that there were no oohs and ahhs. I actually had to laugh out loud a few times.”
