Hertha BSC has been looking for a successor to Managing Director Thomas Herrich since spring. This now seems to be found.
The long search apparently has an end: according to media reports, Hertha BSC is short of the announcement of a new managing director. Instead of a prominent face such as Oliver Kahn or Ralf Rangnick, Peter Görlich should take over a rather unknown name.
As the “Bild” and Sky report, the former Hoffenheim Görlich successor to Thomas Herrich, who had declared his resignation in the spring. So far there has been no statement on the new personnel from the club. According to the reports, Görlich is to be presented in the capital this week. On Sunday Hertha meets the Karlsruher SC in the home stadium.
After Herrich’s withdrawal, numerous well -known names for the post had been traded in the second division club. Kahn, Rangnick and Jonas Boldt also decided against a commitment in Berlin.
In the future, Görlich should form a double top together with Ralf Huschen, who recently was responsible for the management alone. During this transfer period, he could participate in the management of the squad. Hertha is still looking for a striker. According to media reports, Mërgim Berisha canceled the club.
The 58-year-old Görlich was apparently one of the suggestions of a personnel consulting agency who had commissioned the Hertha for the search for a new managing director. Görlich does not bring great sporting expertise.
Before his commitment to TSG Hoffenheim, he led several companies with a focus on healthcare. Between 2015 and 2021, Görlich worked as a managing director for sports, innovation and internationalization in Hoffenheim. Most recently, he took over the management of SHR University Heidelberg in July. It is currently unclear whether he gives up this task or exercises both positions in parallel.
After the upcoming occupation of the managing director role, another key post with Hertha remains vacant. The club continues to look for a new head for the young academy. According to several media, Rainer Widmayer is to succeed Andreas Neuendorf.
