Holiday park Prinsenmeer in Ommel must be closed immediately by order of the municipality of Asten. The municipality reported this on Wednesday. The municipality is afraid that owner and reality star Peter Gillis is abusing the permits for the park, possibly for crime. This was evident from an investigation by the municipality.
The park will be closed immediately. Habitation is not permitted according to the zoning plan. Various inspections have taken place in recent months and all chalets have been checked.
Letter to residents
A letter was distributed to the park on October 3, 2023, advising people to look for alternative accommodation.
“Since then, we have carried out further checks on the park to determine the situation with regard to occupancy. The Municipal Executive will make a decision on how to deal with this at the beginning of 2024,” the municipality wrote in a statement.
Mayor Anke van Extel-van Katwijk is crystal clear about the decision.
“While other entrepreneurs adhere to laws and regulations, at Oostappen Group we see a long-standing pattern of systematically violating the same rules. This leads to legal inequality and we cannot accept that.”
Fire safety
Asten previously wanted to see money from the entrepreneur because fire safety at the Prinsenmeer park in Ommel is not in order. This was already established during an inspection more than a year ago, but nothing has improved since then, the municipality believes.
