DeBoer failed badly in his last wash in Vegas. The Golden Knights, who started the season as a total champion candidate, were left out of the playoffs for the first time.
Vegas fired DeBoer, who had been on the team’s sticks for two and a half years, in May.
In the spring, he rallied when he decided to play Vegas ’No. 1 goalkeeper Robin Lehner. According to DeBoer, Lehner was perfectly healthy. It soon became apparent that Lehner had had to play with injury and was therefore excluded from the final matches of the season.
The Dallas head coach stand has been open since Rick Bowness left his post. Stars were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs as the Calgary Flames took a 4 to 3 win.
Canadian DeBoer, 54, has previously worked as head coach at the Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks.
As many as five Finns play in Stars: Roope Hintz, Joel Kiviranta, Miro Heiskanen, Jani Hakanpää and Esa Lindell.
