Peter Bosz is enjoying his team more and more. After a draw in the last group match of the Champions League, he spoke proudly about his team. Malik Tillman in particular received a big compliment from his trainer, who was also looking ahead to the next round. These five topics were discussed.
The match against Arsenal
“I’m proud of my boys. If you look at what kind of team we are playing with, I am referring to Mauro Junior and Armando Obispo, who played 90 minutes again in a long time and left back Patrick van Aanholt who was in midfield for the first time, then we played very well. In London we didn’t get a single clear chance and now we do. Both teams wanted to win, this match was an advertisement for football.”
Tillman and Saibari
“It was just scary how well Malik Tillman played. We are always surprised by what he shows in the field. He was the absolute standout. I really enjoyed it. He played great. But Ismael Saibari also showed why he has been in the starting line-up in recent weeks. He was a bit unlucky with his shot, but it will be quite a challenge to field all our good midfielders.”
The Champions League
“What we have achieved is extremely impressive. You know in advance that three teams will compete for second place behind Arsenal. The fact that we managed to reach the next round before the last match is fantastic. It is also good for the Netherlands. This was a while ago.”
Critical note
“I especially want to be proud today, but I can always think of something critical. We probably should have won today given the number of chances in the first half. If we had succeeded, PSV would have had the best group stage in history. That was a statistic that came along and that I would have liked to have achieved.”
Knockout phase
“We were very good today, but if we want to continue in the knockout phase, we have to do even better. But I am also convinced that no group winner will enjoy playing against us. But if we want to write history, we have to do even better!”
