Peter Bosz has a luxury problem with an almost fit selection at PSV

A very successful transfer period means that Peter Bosz has a lot of choice at PSV. These are of course luxury problems, although he has to keep everyone happy. The trainer explains how he makes his choices and that he takes the home match against NEC very seriously.

Peter Bosz has a difficult choice to make on the wings alone. He has three top players available with Noa Lang, Hirving Lozano and Johan Bakayoko. “I even have four,” the trainer adds sharply. “Yorbe Vertessen has been the man in form in recent weeks, so that is also a serious option.”

The main question is whether the trainer will maintain the success before the international break. PSV won everything in the competition, qualified for the Champions League and won the Johan Cruijff Shield. Does the puzzle need to be re-laid?

“You have to put the puzzle together every week.”

“You can redo that puzzle every week. We will encounter suspensions and injuries and then you also have to look at who is available. You also have to deal with an opponent. Some players fit better into a tactical plan with a particular opponent.”

Newcomers Lozano and Armel Bella-Kotchap can start on Saturday. But the question remains whether they can also be deployed for ninety minutes. Yet these are two players who were not made for the bench. And so he will have to keep them happy. “That is a matter of talking a lot with players. You have to include them in the choices you make and explain them to them. But ultimately I hope to have to play two games a week until the end of the year. Then everyone will have enough time to play.”

“PSV did not become champions last year because they dropped points against smaller opponents.”

PSV has a home match against NEC on Saturday, after which the Champions League starts with an away match against Arsenal. That match is of course much more difficult, but you don’t hear Bosz say that. “Saturday is certainly not a practice match. We want to become champions and then it is just a very important match. At the beginning of this season I emphasized that PSV did not become champions last year because they dropped points against smaller opponents. We have to prevent that this season.”

Bosz can appeal to all newcomers against NEC. Only the long-term injured, Armando Obispo, Mauro Junior and Frederik Oppegard, are not yet included.
