Peter Bosz found the match against RKC more difficult than Rangers

PSV remained clear in the Eredivisie thanks to a victory over RKC. It topped off a great week securing Champions League football. Despite the 4-0 win, Peter Bosz found the match against RKC more difficult. He thought they should now show whether they are worthy of the Champions League.

Put Rangers and RKC next to each other and the Scots of course have a better team than the Waalwijkers. But just after the euphoric mood after the victory over Rangers, RKC was a difficult test case according to Peter Bosz.

“The boys had blue shoulders after Wednesday”, the trainer referred to the many compliments his team had received. “But two days later you have to play against RKC. If you want to be a champion, you have to win this. This match was more difficult than against Rangers.”

“He is exactly the type of defender we were looking for”

He meant that it was difficult for his team to evoke a certain sharpness. “After such a good performance, you have to get the tension back,” the coach explained his statement. “That requires a lot of energy, but it was reflected. The second goal is due to the good pressure of the vanguard. I was very happy with that.”

Bosz was also happy with the new central defender who was presented on the last day. Armel Bella-Kotchap is on loan from Southampton. “He is exactly the type of defender we were looking for. It is a pure defender who wins his duels. He is strong in the air but can also play with spaces behind him. He is very fast.”

“It couldn’t be better right now”

PSV strengthened itself considerably this summer and so the trainer has to deal with a luxury problem. Or not? Because how is he going to keep everyone happy. “That’s very simple. I like everyone equally. So they have to show it playing football. If you play you will do very well.”

All in all, a great start for Bosz, who himself did not want to complain. “It couldn’t be better right now.”
